Description
Coopers' Company's School, built in 1909 by architects Figgis and Mundy, is a notable example of Neo Wren style architecture. Founded in 1536, the school is constructed of red brick with white stone dressings and is arranged around a central courtyard. The fourth side facing Morgan Street features an open, semi-circular arcade supported by pillars. The end bays of the west and east wings are marked by rusticated full-height arches made of white stone, along with a cornice and blocking course. The building is mostly two storeys high, with the rear wing also featuring a cornice and blocking course. It has a large hipped roof topped with a central cupola, and there are short square towers on either side, each with its own cupola. There are some small, unobtrusive additions to the structure. Coopers' Company's School is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 48 (consecutive) and Nos 53 to 64 (consecutive) Tredegar Square.
