Description
Chandlery House is a mid-19th century warehouse located on Back Church Lane and also fronting Gowers Walk in E1. The building is constructed of stock brick with a coped parapet, the central recessed portion being coped above. The facade has three storeys and originally had 12 windows, with segmental red brick heads over those on the top and ground floors. The windows are fitted with glazing bars. A white cornice is positioned at the level of the first-floor sills. Red and blue brick dressings are employed, and there are three carriageway doors in the central position. Later office windows with small panes have been inserted at the ground floor of the northern end. Chandlery House, together with New Loom House, forms a group with the wool warehouse at No. 74 Ellen Street.
