Description

Henley House is a building constructed in 1899, located on Swanfield Street in the Boundary Estate. The ground floor is made of red brick, serving as a plinth for the structure above, which features yellow stock brick with red brick dressings. The building has a cornice above the third-floor windows and a slate roof adorned with Flemish style gables and finials, as well as end turrets. It stands four storeys tall with dormers and has a total of nineteen windows, including small windows in between. The windows are sashes with segmental arches and contemporary glazing bars. The inner facade includes open staircase wells at intervals and large brick stacks. The building has two bays facing Old Nichol Street.

The Boundary Estate is recognized as an early London County Council estate, notable for its advanced design for the time. It showcases a variety of architectural details and features streets that radiate from a central raised park located in Arnold Circus. The entire estate is considered a cohesive group, which includes several streets such as Arnold Circus, Boundary Street, Calvert Avenue, Camlet Street, Club Row, Hocker Street, Ligonier Street, Montclare Street, Naverre Street, Old Nichol Street, Palissy Street, Rochelle Street, Swanfield Street, and Virginia Street.
