Description
Christchurch Rectory, located at 2 Fournier Street, is an early 18th-century building designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor, alongside the adjacent Christ Church. The rectory is constructed of brown brick with red brick dressings and features a stucco parapet above a stone cornice adorned with dentils. It stands three storeys tall, with a basement and attic, and includes pedimented dormer windows. The facade has four recessed sash windows with glazing bars, set under segmental arches. The stone door surround is detailed with an architrave, frieze, and cornice. Inside, the staircase boasts twisted balusters. The property is complemented by area railings. Christchurch Rectory is part of a group that includes the Great Synagogue, various numbered buildings on Fournier Street, and Christ Church on Commercial Street, as well as other nearby structures.
