Park lodge. Dated 1889. By Architects' Department of the LCC. Red brick in English bond to ground floor, mock box-framing to 1st-floor and oversailing gables on both wings. Roofs of tile with tile cresting. Old English style. PLAN: 2 and a half storey "solar" cross wing, with one and a half storey wing running at a right angle to it, forming an L-shaped plan. EXTERIOR: entrance at join of 2 wings, set under a 2-bay, timber-framed porch with hipped roof merging with roof of high wing. To the left, in high wing, a rectangular porch to ground floor, terminating in jettied 1st floor, which has a small canted bay; gable hamper oversailing pierced by 2 round-arched lights. Left return with elaborate chimney breast and plaque bearing date. Stack rebuilt to an original design since 1988. Segmental-arched opening in chimney breast, otherwise all openings are flat-arched. Return to lower wing has canted bay finishing in gable hamper oversailing; gable pierced by pair of small attic lights. Ornamental barge-boards to both gables. INTERIOR: not inspected. Forms a group with Roseberry Gate (qv).
