Description
Roseberry Gate to Dulwich Park, built around 1890, is a gate made of stone, cast iron, and wrought iron. It features six piers that define two carriageways, with walkways on either side. The central pair of piers creates a central reserve, and the railings extend to the pavement, ending in a pier at each side. Each pier is identical and resembles those found at the Old College Gate on College Road, Queen Mary Gate on Dulwich Common, and Court Lane Gate. The piers are square with a rebated section, and their capitals are made from rusticated blocks, topped with scrolls and volutes that draw inspiration from French Second Empire designs. The gates themselves have ornamental cresting. This structure forms a group with Roseberry Lodge.
