Description

Numbers 71-77 and the attached railings are a group of mid-19th century terraced houses. They are built of stock brick in Flemish bond, with the ground floor faced in stucco treated as banded rustication. The roofs are parapeted.

The houses are three storeys high, with a basement. Each has two windows, and the end units project slightly. Round-arched entrances are reached by short steps; those to numbers 71 and 73 are to the left of the party wall, and those to numbers 75 and 77 are to the right. A pair of round-arched windows are located to the side of each entrance. Most of these windows have original 2x2 sashes with margin lights, with the exception of those to number 71. Ground-floor windows have panelled spandrels. Segmental-arched windows are present in the basements. First-floor windows incorporate iron balconettes, each with an architrave and bracketed cornice, although the brackets have been removed from number 71. Gauged brick lintels top the second-floor windows, which have 2x2 sashes. A brick entablature band runs along the facade, and the parapets are stucco faced. Stacks are visible on the party wall.

The interior has not been inspected. Ancillary features include handrails to the front steps.
