Description

This is a pair of mid-19th century houses, numbers 139 to 143, located on Lee Park. They are each three storeys high with a basement, and feature three windows, with the right-hand bay of each house slightly set back. The houses are constructed of multicoloured stock brick with a stuccoed front. They have a low-pitched, hipped slate roof with an eaves soffit. Architectural details include an angle pilaster on the right-hand side, cill strings on the first and second floors, and a ground floor band. The windows are sash windows; the second-floor windows have vertical bars, while the glazing bars in numbers 141 and 143 are also vertical, and number 139 features vertical bars. The first and second floors have flat window surrounds, and cornices adorn the first-floor windows. The ground-floor windows are set within round arched recesses and have flat architraves with bracketed cills. A set of seven steps leads to a four-panel double door, incorporating a plain, rectangular fanlight within a moulded wooden architrave. Modified entablature surrounds are also present. Numbers 139 to 143 form a group.
