Description

The Garden House is an early 19th-century house, possibly originally designed as a pair. It is three storeys high with a basement, and has a four-bay facade with narrower, set-back bays alternating with broader main bays. The house is constructed of stock brick with a stucco frieze, cornice, and blocking course, and a band at the second floor level, as well as a basement. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars; some are set beneath flat, gauged brick arches, while others are under later 19th-century replaced segmental arches. On the ground floor of the main bays are shallow, two-window rounded bows featuring wrought iron top railings, with the windows above them set in segmental arched recesses. A Doric porch in antis is located on the left return.
