Description

This is an early to mid-19th century terrace of houses, numbered 12A to 22A on Lilford Road, London SE5. The terrace comprises twelve houses, each two stories high with an attic and basement, and originally designed with a single window frontage. The houses are notable for their wide proportions. They are constructed of stock brick, with a stuccoed frieze and cornice, and have a basement level. The roofs are slated mansard roofs with dormers and dividing chimney walls. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set within moulded architraves; those on the ground floor have pediments and projecting bracketed cills. A flight of eight steps leads to the front doors, which are made of three-panelled timber with rectangular fanlights above. The doors are recessed within shallow prostyle porches, featuring cornices decorated with modillion details. Number 22 is connected to number 24 Minet Road, and their entrances are combined within a double prostyle composite porch featuring fluted columns.
