Description

Longfield Hall is a building dated 1889, situated on Knatchbull Road. It is a T-shaped structure, comprising a straight rear range and a taller, wider, central section that projects forward, ending in a semi-circular front under a half-corbelled roof. The building is constructed of stock brick with red brick and stone dressings, and has tiled roofs. It stands one storey high with a basement. The drum-shaped front features five three-light wooden mullioned and transomed windows, separated by tapered buttresses with sloped stone steps. An entablature at eaves level incorporates a brick dentil cornice. Entrance porches are located in the angles, accessed by curved flights of steps with a handrail, and are set behind a stock brick retaining wall with stone coping. The rear range has a half-octagonal right end.
