49, Rectory Grove SW4

49 Rectory Grove is an early 19th-century building that stands two storeys high, with an attic and basement, featuring three windows. It is constructed of stock brick, with an altered stucco cornice and parapet, and a stuccoed basement below an inserted damp course. The building has a tall slated mansard roof with dormers. The sash windows, which have glazing bars (except on the ground floor), are set within gauged flat brick arches and stucco lined reveals. The ground floor windows are framed by elliptical arched recesses, some of which have had their brickwork renewed. Access is via nine steps, which have a later wrought iron handrail, leading to a half-glazed door that features a cornice head and a plain fanlight, all set within a round arched stuccoed recess. The building is included partly for its group value, despite the alterations it has undergone.
