Description

This is a mid-19th century terrace of houses designed by William Rogers. Numbers 26 to 33 Cleaver Square comprise a group of houses, each with three storeys and a sunken basement, and typically feature a single window. The construction is primarily stock brick, with stuccoed quoins on the projecting outer houses and pilasters dividing the others. A detailed entablature and blocking course adorns the facades. The basement and ground floor are in banded rustication, with vermiculate quoins on the outer houses. The sash windows have margin lights or vertical bars within moulded architraves; the first-floor windows have eared architraves with scrolled feet and pediments, while ground-floor windows have panelled pilasters and console bracketed cornices. The doors have been altered but are set within similar surrounds.
