Description
The mill building located on the south side of Factory Square, ten yards west of No. 496 Streatham High Road, dates from around 1820. It is constructed of brick and features a low-pitched slate roof that extends to the eaves. The building has three storeys and presents a symmetrical design with a nine-bay central section flanked by slightly lower, slightly advanced five-bay wings. To the left, there is a slightly lower three-storey office wing. The windows are segmental-headed, with later small-paned metal frames. There are two inserted entrances at the ground floor level. A stucco band runs above the ground floor, and a brick band is present at the eaves of the central part. Atop the roof is a central clock tower, which is weatherboarded and pilastered, topped with a dome finial and weathervane, although the clock faces are missing. A late 19th-century chimney is located at the rear, and there are later additions to the rear that are not of special interest.
