Description
St Andrew's Church Hall is a church hall built in 1898 by Ernest George, who also constructed the nearby St Andrew's Church and Vicarage in 1885-1886. The building is designed in a vernacular revival style and is made of red brick in English bond with a tiled roof. It features a curved gable facing the street, which includes three sets of three-tier mullioned and transomed casements, most of which still have leaded lights and decorative trefoil ornaments above.
At the front, there is a flat-roofed porch with a semi-circular gable that displays the motto "St Andrew's Church Room." The ground floor has three casement windows, which were boarded up at the time of the survey, along with double doors featuring six fielded panels. The right side elevation boasts a large 18-light flat-roofed dormer and four 5-light cambered casements, while the left side has a similar 18-light dormer and pilasters.
At the rear, there is a two-storey section with a chimney and an entrance accessed by stone steps. This entrance features three-light corner leaded light glazing and a round-headed arched doorcase leading to the semi-basement. Inside, the hall has a timber-framed roof supported by ogee braces.
