Description
The main building of Haselrigge Junior Mixed and Infants School, located on Bowland Road, was constructed in 1893 and designed by T.B. Bailey as a Board School. It is built of stock brick with red brick detailing, and rises up to six storeys. The building’s design is in the Queen Anne style. The central section is taller and features a spirelet atop the roof. The main facade is divided into advanced sections at each end and in the centre. The central sections are three bays wide, with the bays corbelled back below the top storey. The end sections have hipped roofs, each featuring a central window that rises through the eaves under a gablet; the right-hand gablet has scalloped detailing. The rear facade, facing the street, is more modest in scale and includes prominent, quasi-niche features with scalloped heads.
