Description
Nos. 553, 555, and 557 on Wandsworth Road are an early to mid-19th century terrace of houses, each standing two storeys high with a basement and featuring two windows. The buildings are constructed of stock brick, although the parapet has been altered and the original cornice is missing. The basement and first floor have a stuccoed cill band. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are topped with gauged brick arches. The ground floor windows are round-headed and set within round-arched recesses that include stone impost blocks and cills. Access to the doors is via six steps, which are complemented by wrought iron handrails. The doors themselves consist of five beaded panels and are adorned with fluted quadrant pilasters, a cornice head, and a radial fanlight.
