Description

The tomb of General Sir John Aitchison, who died in 1875, is a mausoleum located in Kensal Green Cemetery. It is constructed from Portland stone and features a pylon-form entrance that is currently blocked. This entrance is adorned with an enriched lintel and is set beneath a canopy supported by scrolled brackets. Above, there is an upper eared pediment topped with a crucifix finial. The side walls are battered, and the eastern wall includes a long inscription in lead letters that outlines Aitchison's military career.
