Description
The tomb of Alexandrina and Herbert Allingham, who both died in 1904, is located in Kensal Green Cemetery. It features a Carrara marble monument with a recumbent effigy of a woman holding a lap dog, situated within a recess above the base and flanked by squat pilasters. The mid-section has a pediment with an inscription surrounded by wreaths, while the upper section displays a grieving angel holding a wreath over a demi-column. This tomb is an exceptional example of Edwardian cemetery sculpture. Herbert Allingham was a prominent surgeon who tragically took his life after accidentally infecting his wife with syphilis.
