Description

No. 5 Park Walk is a house, now functioning as a ground-floor shop, that was completed shortly after 1725. It is constructed of brown brick with red brick dressings and features gauged heads above the windows. The original layout included two rooms and a rear closet, and the building has three storeys plus a basement. The ground floor has a 19th-century shopfront, and the sash windows have been renewed. There is a six-panelled door at the entrance. The rear elevation was significantly rebuilt following damage from a Second World War bomb, although some original brickwork and windows remain.

Inside, the ground floor includes some panelling in the rear closet. The staircase hall is fully panelled, featuring large panels above the dado and a box cornice. The lower flight of the staircase has a turned baluster open string with decorated ends, while the upper flight has a closed string. The rooms on the first and second floors are also fully panelled, with box cornices and the panelling divided by raised dadoes. The front rooms are intact but separated by an inserted divide, and the rear room contains a corner stack.
