Description
The monument to the Reverend John Frederick Blake is a funerary structure located in Kensal Green Cemetery. It is designed as a one-metre high model of a lighthouse, reminiscent of the famous Eddystone Light off the coast of Cornwall. The tower is made of polished Larvikite, a grey, granite-like igneous rock from Larvik in Norway, and it features a base of Carrara marble carved into rugged rock formations. An upper balustrade bears the inscription 'Jesus Light of Life', and the lantern above is constructed of solid glass or crystal. The monument is positioned at the head of the grave plot, which is enclosed with stone copings and includes an open book inscribed with details about Blake and other family members.
