11, Kensington Palace Gardens W8

Number 11, Kensington Palace Gardens is a substantial house built between 1852 and 1854, designed by S. Smirke. The building is faced in stucco and features an eclectic design that combines an Italianate front with a "Chambord" skyline. It has three storeys plus an attic. The ground floor has square bay windows on either side of the entrance, which is framed by a portico supported by coupled fluted Corinthian columns. Above, there are balustraded balconies, three-light windows on the first floor, and single windows on the second floor. The house is adorned with an enriched frieze, a dentil cornice, and a parapet that includes large pedimented dormers. There are extensions to both the left and right sides of the building, and an area balustrade. The interior has not been seen. This house is noted in the Survey of London, Volume 37.
