Description

This is a house, dating from circa 1759-65, with alterations and remaining elements from 1579. The building extends over four storeys, includes basements, and has dormers. It is arranged with a consistent three windows per bay. The facade is brick, with a prominent cornice band at the third floor level. Number 26 has a later 19th-century addition of an extra storey and a window. Numbers 19, 20, 22, 24 and 25 feature wooden doorcases supported by Doric columns and topped with open pediments. Number 23 has an elaborate door hood with a dentil cornice and carved brackets, originally from Paradise Row. Number 24 incorporates a carriage entrance to the ground floor on its eastern side, and a cast-iron hooded trellis verandah across the first floor. The interiors are of good quality. Number 21 is accessed via a covered way from the gate to the entrance door, featuring iron columns and trelliswork.
