Description

This is a house, originally a single property, now subdivided into two dwellings, Numbers 1 and 2. The core of the building dates back to the 18th century, with a later addition constructed in the 1930s to match the original style. The main part of Number 1 and part of Number 2 are from the 18th century, while the remainder of Number 2 was built in the 1930s. The house is constructed of red brick, with the front facade of the original building rendered with rough plaster. It has a hipped tiled roof and red brick chimney stacks. The original part of the house has two storeys and three windows. The first floor features a twelve-pane sash window centered between two sixteen-pane sash windows. A central doorcase with Doric columns, a curved pediment, a semi-circular fanlight over the door, and a door composed of six fielded panels are prominent features. A modillion eaves cornice runs along the roofline. A one-bay addition was constructed in the 1930s to the north, featuring a sixteen-pane sash window with horns on the first floor and a casement window on the ground floor. Number 2 contains an old chimney and a bread oven. Numbers 3 and 4 are later 1930s additions and are not considered to have any special architectural merit.
