Description

The lamp standard located in the garden east of Albert Bridge was built in 1874. It is one of two iron lamp standards featuring an ornate twisted column design adorned with climbing figures and cornucopiae. The lamp is set on a plain granite pedestal that has an inscription commemorating the opening of Chelsea Embankment in 1874. The lamp standard was cast in Coalbrookdale.
