Description
The tomb of Harriet Browne, Viscountess D'Alte, who died in 1862, is located in Kensal Green Cemetery. It features a Carrara marble sarcophagus resting on a grey granite plinth. The sarcophagus is supported by lions'-paw feet and displays heraldic achievements on its sides, a flaming heart within a wreath on the ends, and a coronet on a cushion at the top. The stepped plinth has inscriptions on each side. This monument closely resembles that of Princess Sophia, which is nearby, and is part of a group of notable monuments within the cemetery. Harriet Browne was the wife of the Portuguese Minister in Rome.
