Description
A terrace of eight houses, numbered 4 to 13 Kensington Gate, dating from 1847 and designed by C. Bean as part of a larger, unified scheme comprising numbers 1 to 29. The houses are two storeys high with basements and are stucco-faced. They are exceptionally ornate, featuring horizontal grooving to the ground floor, Ionic porches, architraves and entablatures to the first-floor windows, a modillion cornice, and balustrades to the porches and roof. Original cast iron area railings are also present. The buildings are in an unspoiled condition.
