Description
A terrace of houses located in Islington, built around 1847 by George Crane. The terrace, originally numbers 5 to 17 and 19 to 35 (odd numbers), is constructed of brown brick laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with dressings of gauged yellow brick and stucco. The roofs are hidden behind a parapet. The terrace consists of three storeys over a basement, featuring two windows per house, except for number 19, which has four. The entrance is flat-arched, framed by pilasters and an entablature, with an overlight and a panelled door of original design. All windows are flat-arched, with heads of gauged yellow brick; the ground floor windows are set back under a round arch of gauged yellow brick. A stucco sill band runs along the first-floor windows, which are also set back under round arches. There is a stucco cornice and blocking course. The terrace has undergone rebuilding, particularly at numbers 27 and 29. Number 35 has a late 20th-century shop front on the ground floor, with a curved chamfer. A flat-arched entrance is found in the right-hand return in Railway Street, along with two flat-arched, blank windows above.
