Description
This is a row of terraced houses dating from the early 19th century, located on Canonbury Road, Islington. The houses are built of yellow brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco detailing, and their roofs are hidden behind a parapet. Each house has three storeys above a basement, and generally two windows are visible on each floor.
The basement level is stuccoed, and a flight of steps leads to a round-arched entrance, featuring gauged brickwork, fluted pilasters, a cornice, and a fanlight. The ground-floor windows are also round-arched with gauged brick heads. The windows at numbers 56, 58 and 62 retain their original sashes. The first and second floor windows are flat-arched with gauged brick heads, and number 60 still has its original sashes. A parapet runs along the top. Chimney stacks are located on the party walls between the houses. A section of the stucco architrave around the ground floor window at number 62 has been altered. At number 68, an early 19th century panelled door is set within a surround with pilasters and glazed fanlight. Original railings are present on the steps of numbers 64 to 68.
