Description
Nos. 187-191 on St John Street are former distillery buildings that have been converted into offices. They date from the late 19th century, with the ground floor dating to around 1900. The ground floor is constructed of granite ashlar, while the upper floors are made of yellow and white brick with stone dressings. The building is three storeys high over a basement and features a four-window range. The ground floor consists of four bays, with a segmental passage arch to the left and other basement and ground-floor windows that are segmental-arched but now blank. There is a storey band and a simple cornice.
The upper floors display a giant order of pilasters that support an entablature, which projects forward over them. The first-floor windows are flat-arched with stone lintels, while the second-floor windows are segmental-arched with gauged brick heads. These windows are set back in a segmental-arched panel that is edged with white brick and features stone keystones. The building is topped with a parapet that has stone coping.
