Description

Numbers 12-27 are a group of terraced houses built around 1845. They are constructed of yellow brick laid in Flemish bond, with stucco plastering. The roof is hidden behind a parapet. The houses are arranged with three storeys over a basement, and typically have two windows facing the street. Numbers 12, 17-21 project slightly forward. The basement and ground floors have been stuccoed, with the ground floor decorated with banded rustication. A segmental-arched entrance has pilaster jambs, a cornice, and a fanlight, with decorative glazing at numbers 17-21, 24, and 26. The entrances have doors with two narrow panels, found at numbers 12-17, 20-25, and 27. A sill band marks the end of the stucco at the first-floor level. The upper-floor windows have flat arches with gauged brick heads, and iron balconies on the first floor. Original sash windows remain at numbers 12-13 (ground and first floors), 14, 15 (ground and second floors), 16, 17 (ground and second floors), 18 (ground and first floors), 19-20, 21-22 (ground and first floors), 25-26, and 27 (first floor). A stucco cornice and blocking course runs along the top of the building; the cornice is missing from numbers 22 and 24. The party walls have stack chimneys. The area railings have fleur-de-lys finials.
