Description
The Canonbury Tavern is a public house located in Islington, dating from around 1846. It is constructed of grey brick and stucco, with a roof that is not visible. The main facade facing Canonbury Place features three bays, with the ground floor showcasing a single-storey projection that spans the entire width of the facade. This projection is flanked by entrance wings that have entablatures. The projection, which may be an addition, is finished in stucco and includes flat-arched windows bordered by paired pilasters, a fascia, a cornice, and a parapet.
On the first floor, the windows are also flat-arched and are adorned with stucco architraves and cornices supported by consoles above. The building features a simple moulded cornice made of stucco and a parapet. There is a single-storey wing to the east. The garden is enclosed by cast-iron railings that have fleur-de-lys and pineapple finials.
