Description
10 and 11 Alwyne Road are semi-detached houses built between 1847 and 1850, likely developed and designed by James Wagstaffe. They are constructed of yellow brick in Flemish bond, with stucco dressings and a slate roof. The houses rise three storeys above a basement, each featuring three windows. The basement is stuccoed. The entrance is accessed by steps in a two-storey outer bay that is slightly set back, featuring a flat-arched entrance with pilaster-jambs, a cornice, an overlight, and a panelled door of original design. The upper storey of no 10 has been rebuilt, and no 11 has likely undergone similar alterations. Each house has flat-arched windows on all floors, with the ground and first-floor windows adorned with architraves and cornices on consoles, while the second-floor windows have architraves connected to the bracketed and moulded eaves cornice. The ground floor of no 11 and the second floor of both houses retain sashes of original design. The houses have a hipped roof with stacks on the party walls.
