Description
The property comprises a pair of semi-detached houses located at 31 and 32 Alwyne Road, built between 1847 and 1849 and likely designed by James Wagstaffe. Constructed of yellow brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco dressings, the houses have slate roofs. They are three storeys high with a basement, each featuring three windows. The entrance is situated within a slightly recessed two-storey bay. The basement is stuccoed with banded rustication, and steps lead to a flat-arched entrance featuring pilaster-jambs, a cornice, and an overlight. The original panelled door is set back within a later, round-arched porch. A cambered-arched window sits above the entrance on No. 31, with a cornice and blocking course. Other windows are flat-arched, with those on the ground and first floors framed by architraves and cornices resting on consoles. Second-floor windows have architraves linked to the bracketed and moulded eaves cornice. Bracketed balconies with cast-iron railings are present on the ground-floor windows, though some of the brackets are missing from No. 32. The roof is hipped, with stacks situated on the party wall.
