Description
No 34 is a substantial mid-18th century house that has two storeys and an attic, featuring five bays and a high-pitched roof, which is now slated. The house has three early 19th-century flat dormers and end chimneys. It is constructed of brown brick with red brick dressings, including a moulded and dentilled cornice below the parapet. The finely-gauged red brick arches above the later sash windows are set in exposed, moulded frames, with a first-floor band. The entrance door consists of eight fielded panels and is set within a Doric doorcase that has attached columns, a triglyph frieze, and a mutule cornice with a pediment.
The house is flanked by two-storey, three-bay wings, which were possibly originally a stable and coach house from the early to mid-19th century. The adjacent yellowish brick house, No 32 to the east, has a renewed slated roof and its first floor has been rebuilt to include five windows. Both ground floors feature elliptical arched openings with an impost band, with No 32's opening filled with doors and windows. No 34A has a door in the central opening and blank flanking panels.
