Description

A terrace of houses located at 30-35 St Peter's Square, dating from approximately 1825 to 1830. The terrace is composed of two linked groups of three houses, arranged symmetrically. The houses are constructed from stucco, and are three storeys high with a basement. Each house is three windows wide. The central house in each trio features a recessed design with a projecting ground-floor colonnade supported by Ionic columns and an iron balustrade above. The houses to either side have two bays that project beneath a pediment, while the outermost bays are recessed and feature advanced Ionic porches. Balconies are positioned above the porches, each with tented canopies. The facade is defined by string courses between the storeys, topped by a cornice and blocking course. The windows are square-headed sash windows, although the ground-floor windows are French doors opening onto balconies with iron balustrades. Most of the original glazing bars have been retained. The terrace forms part of a cohesive architectural grouping with numbers 1-19, 22-29, 36-39 and 44-46.
