Description
Nos 43 to 53 on Black Lion Lane is a symmetrical group of six houses dating from the early to mid-19th century, with the two end houses set forward. The buildings are three storeys tall with a basement and feature two windows each. They are constructed of stucco, mostly painted, with horizontal rustication on the ground floor except for the two end houses. The first floor has French windows, while the other windows are sash. The doors have architrave surrounds with fanlights above. There is a continuous cast-iron bombe balcony for the four central houses at first floor level, while the end houses have individual balconies. A cornice runs along all but No 43. Additionally, there are some original cast iron garden and area railings that have an arcaded design.
