Description

This is a terrace of six houses, numbered 7 to 15, located on St Peter’s Square in London. Constructed around 1825 to 1830, the terrace is built of stucco and arranged as three linked groups of three houses. The houses are three storeys high with a basement. Each house is originally three windows wide. The central house in each group is set back, featuring a projecting Ionic colonnade on the ground floor and an iron balustrade above. The houses to either side project forward beneath a pediment, with the outermost bays recessed and featuring projecting Ionic porches. Balconies are positioned above the ground floor, each covered by a tented canopy. String courses divide the storeys, and a cornice and blocking course run along the top. The windows are square-headed and sash windows, with French windows on the ground floor opening onto the iron-balustraded balconies. Most of the original glazing bars are still present. Number 9 has a single-bay extension. The terrace forms part of a cohesive group with numbers 1 to 6, 16 to 19, 22 to 39, and 44 to 46.
