Description

A terrace of 18 working-class cottages, reputedly built around 1822. The buildings are constructed of yellow stock brick, with number 4 painted. The roofs are slate, except for numbers 2, 10 and 12, which have tiled roofs. Each cottage is two storeys high with two windows. They have a double-depth plan. The doorways have round arches, most with blocked fanlights; many retain cornice heads and some retain their original panelled doors. The windows are recessed sash windows with cambered brick arches, some with original glazing bars. The interiors largely retain their original layout, often featuring plain panelling and dogleg staircases with a column newel, plain stick balusters, and a moulded handrail. Numbers 1-18 form a group with numbers 19-23 in Shepherds Bush Place.
