Description
The Nurse's Home, formerly known as Brandenburg House, is located on the north side of Lochaline Street and was built in 1905 by architect A Saxon Snell. The building is constructed of brick with roughcast on the second floor and features a slate roof. It has a five-bay central block flanked by two-bay projecting wings on either side, along with additional single-bay wings at both ends. The structure stands three storeys tall. The entrance is situated in the right projecting wing, which includes a single-storey canted bay window on either side. There is also a single-storey bay window at the centre of the ground floor in the left wing. The windows in the central block feature timber mullion and transom casements on the ground floor, while the first and second floors have sash windows. The building is topped with heavy bracketed eaves and has irregularly placed chimneys.
