Description

This property comprises numbers 17 to 21 Pitfield Street, Islington. The front of the building dates to the early 19th century, although an older structure exists behind. The main fronting section is three storeys and an attic, with a symmetrical arrangement of four windows. The facades are of stock brick with a stone-coped parapet. The roof is a slated mansard with dormers. The sash windows have vertical bars or margin lights, set within reveals lined with stucco. Number 17 features a mid- to late 19th-century shop front on the ground floor; numbers 19 and 21 have modern shop fronts. The return facade facing Charles Square dates from the early to mid-18th century, with two storeys and an attic and three windows. This section has a tiled gambrel roof with dormers, and features finely gauged window arches. The ground floor is stuccoed.
