Description
Daubeny Junior School is an 1884 London Board School, as indicated by a plaque on the south end. It is a long, two-storey building featuring 17 bays, with alternate bays set under gables. The end gables of the cross-wings are significantly wider. The school is constructed from stock brick, accented with red brick dressings and stone gable copings. It has a high-pitched tiled roof, topped with a symmetrical row of brick chimneys. A string course runs along the first floor. The windows in the inner gabled sections are set in segmental arched recesses, framed by brick pilasters that rest on the string course. In the gable ends, there is a tall central window beneath a segmental relieving arch with a stone key, flanked by narrower side windows. All windows are sash style, featuring glazing bars and a transom with a pivoted upper light. The ground floor windows have gauged brick arches. Daubeny Junior and Infant's Schools, along with the forecourt railings to the Junior School, form a group.
