Description
The Monument to William Tyler is located in Abney Park Cemetery and dates from 1909. It is made of white marble and pink granite. The monument features a canopy topped with a cross, supported by four square colonnettes, resting on a square base of pink granite. Inside the canopy, there is a sculpture depicting a policeman's helmet, cape, and truncheon placed on a miniature sarcophagus. The inscription reads 'PC 403 of the North Division'. William Tyler was a policeman who was murdered during the 'Tottenham Outrage' while attempting to arrest an anarchist.
