Description
54 Farringdon Street is a building constructed between 1863 and 1869, likely designed by William Heywood. It features a pair of pavilions that serve as a bridge connecting Holborn Viaduct and Farringdon Street, with open lower storeys that include stairs. The architectural style is enriched and round-arched, built from Portland stone. The building has three main storeys, a basement, and a slated mansard roof with stone dormers that break through a pierced parapet. The north elevations are adorned with statues and other decorative elements, and there are iron railed balconies on the longer sides. Originally, this structure was matched by another pair of pavilions located to the north of the bridge.
