Description
Porter's lodge at the entrance to Ely Place, built in the late 18th century, is made of yellow stock brick with rusticated stone angles. The building is single-storey and features one stone architraved window on each side, with a door located on the north side. The roof has pedimented ends and is topped with a fluted stone chimney pot. The interior is plain.
There are also iron gates across the road to the west and east, with an ornamental iron standard on the west side, and gates leading to the pavements. Spur stones are present at the angles of the lodge and the gate standards. This structure is noted as a rare survival of a gated road in London.
