Description
No. 5 Hatton Garden is a terraced house dating from the mid-18th century, with a later shop added. The building is constructed of multi-coloured stock brick and features a painted cornice band at the third floor level. It stands four storeys tall, plus a basement, and has two windows. The ground floor shop was added in the late 19th century and has undergone alterations in the 20th century. The second and third floor windows are recessed sash windows with gauged reddened brick flat arches and original glazing bars. The building has a parapet. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is historically notable as the former home of Giuseppe Mazzini, an Italian nationalist, which is commemorated by a plaque on the first floor.
