Description

Number 26, formerly known as Numbers 26 and 27, is a former printing machinery works built in 1886, designed by architect T. Knowles Green. The building is constructed of red brick with terracotta detailing and features a tiled roof. It has an asymmetrical design in the Flemish Renaissance style and stands four storeys tall with an attic.

The exterior consists of three wide bays and a narrow entrance bay to the south, which includes a projecting, turretted bay above the entrance. The central bay has paired windows, while the flanking bays feature tripartite windows and segmental, gabled dormers in the attic. The ground floor is divided laterally and vertically into four sections, with the lower part rusticated. Above, channelled pilasters separate three shallow, segmental-headed windows and a narrow entrance. A horizontal decorative band distinguishes the upper and lower parts of the large windows. A decorated terracotta cornice separates the upper floors from the largely glazed ground and first floors, and an elaborate frieze is repeated on the gables. The building has been converted into offices.

No features of special interest are visible in the interior.
