Description
40 Threadneedle Street is a late 19th-century building featuring two main storeys, a recessed attic, and two roof-storeys. The narrow front is made of brown stone and showcases an elaborate classical style, set back behind a forecourt. An archway with carved spandrels is flanked by channelled piers that support pairs of engaged Ionic columns at the first-floor level. The building has a large central Venetian window adorned with figure carving. Above the window, there is an entablature topped by a balustrade, and the roof is a slated mansard.
