Description
24-28 Lombard Street is a large and striking building constructed in 1910, attributed to Gunton and Gunton. It features a vigorous design in a modified classical style, made of Portland stone and grey granite. The building stands four storeys tall with an additional garret and has a six-bay main elevation facing Lombard Street. The ground floor is rusticated and has arched window openings. The first and second floors display an Ionic order in antis with an alternating window design. At the corner with Clements Lane, there is an oriel window topped by a dome. The main entrance is flanked by Ionic columns and features a circular light above, adorned with a carved lion's head, all set beneath a large segmental pediment supported by brackets. Above this entrance is an impressive life-sized group of figures in bronze.
