Description
No. 38 St Mary Axe is a building constructed in 1922 by Sir Edwin Cooper. It features a stone-faced exterior with a channelled ground floor that supports a simplified Doric entablature at the base of the facade. The corner door is topped by a vase and flanked by cornucopias. The first, second, and third floors have a slightly recessed five-bay center along St Mary Axe, adorned with ornamented pilasters and apron panels. There is an enriched frieze and a dentil cornice above. The building has a recessed attic storey with a parapet that includes antefixae, and it is topped with a pitched pantiled roof that has dormers.
